龙舌 Dragon Tongues

As a break from packing and repacking and making sure that I had all of my lists completed, I darted into the bookstore this evening to pick up some reading material to keep me busy on my long 14-hour flight to Beijing. I know that I should be reading up on Chinese history or studying my Mandarin flashcards, but that’s why I’m going to China, right? Interestingly enough, two of the magazines I picked up both had cover stories dealing with China:

What an apropos time to be traveling to the Far East!

Wow, in a little more than two weeks, I’ll be transformed from the the east coast of the US to the north-central plains of China.

Well… it’s just about that time again. Time to dust off the old passport, break out my one-liter transparent plastic container and find some sleeping pills because I’m off to another country.

I enjoyed blogging while living in Morocco, so I thought I’d try to translate my experience into a digital form, so here we go again. I still need to finish the aesthetic stuff of the blog itself, but in just a little more than two weeks, I’ll be off to Shijiazhuang to study Mandarin.
